About the Author
The aim of this website is to provide a small chunk of information about what I am up to for people that might come across this on the internet or searching specifically for things I am involved in.
This site is less a blog a more an overview. The information is not updated daily but I do try and keep it reasonably up to date with my activities.
This website
I originally created this website to publish my PhD progress back in 2004. Partly as a way of making the details available to people who might be interested and partly to help me document it for myself.
Since I finished my PhD, this site has become a bit more static in terms of content but remains a way to publishing progress on the variety of activates I like to be involved in.
History
I was born in the Somerset town of Yeovil in the UK where I spent the first 18 years of my existence. I moved to London in 1999 where I completed a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineer at Brunel University. Although not my original intention, I ended up staying after graduation to do a 3 year PhD in the subject of Surface Engineering and Tribology focussing particularly on coating systems.
I currently live in Warwick where I work for the international engineering consultancy – Ricardo Plc. I am currently employed as a Development Engineering in the gearbox design and analysis department at the Midlands Technical Centre. I get involved in a variety of projects from developing automotive gearboxes and testing them in vehicles around test tracks to accessing clients gearbox designs and developing innovative solutions.
My main role is to work as a design analyst which involves checking design concepts and simulating the response of various components through advanced computational techniques. More recently I have been involved in the development of wind turbine gearboxes offering technical support to manufacturers and end users suffering with gearbox failures.

In addition, I am a keen windsurfer, enjoy playing Frisbee and like making simple thought provoking videos for people I know to use in churches, there are some examples below.
