Sanddodgers 07
Plymouth - Banjul Challenge, 2006/2007

Over the Christmas and new year period of 2006/2007, myself and two good friends embarked on a challenge of a lifetime… the Plymouth-Banjul Banger Rally in fact.
Simply put, its the poor man’s Paris-Dakar. Cheap cars, lots of sand, breakdowns galore and a serious amount of fun.
No support teams, plenty of gaffer tape and a few tins of beans are the general supplies taken by each team as they do their utmost to nurse their banger of choice all the way from Plymouth in the UK to Banjul in The Gambia.
We choose a Saab, a 1979 Saab 99 Turbo in fact. One of only 900 ever made, the old girl was a really classic, but also a heap of rust! Given only £100 to find a car, we blew our budget at £161. That said, no one would question its banger nature.
Anyways, much more information can be found at www.sanddodgers.co.uk.
